What is a manual boom barrier?

 


·       It is also called in different forms like; Manual Arm Barrier, Manual Barrier, Manual Drop Arm Barrier, Vehicle Barrier, Drop Barrier, Manual Rising Barrier, Gate Barrier, Manual Parking Barrier etc.

·       Manual Barriers are temporary solutions for required traffic managements, car parks, railroad crossing, city buildings, industrial places, construction areas if electric is not available.

·       In a nutshell, manual barriers are used to controlled vehicle entry/exit at the gates.

·       Some companies achieved Crash Test Certificate for manual arm barriers from accredited laboratories like PAS:68, DOS K-12, ASTM F 2656, IWA 14-1.

How does a manual arm barrier seem?

·       Manual boom barriers seem like a beam blocked the road horizontally.

·       Typically, the arm raises 90 degree as vertical position when allowed to passage.

·       The arms are made from aluminium to reach less weight. And arms have special elliptic design to avoid bending or vibration because of wind.

·       If the barrier is crash rated or crash tested, manual barrier boom is manufactured from a strong carbon steel to absorb crashing vehicle loads.

·       It is commonly used arm colour is white with red reflective tapes on it.

·       The main support of the barrier is placed just near the road. And it includes the bearings which acts hinge between counterweight and arm.

·       A counterweight is balanced the boom.
